Angels and Airwaves is an alternative rock band featuring former Blink-182 guitarist/vocalist Tom Delonge. During the indefinite hiatus of Blink, Delonge decided rather than to pursue his solo efforts with critically-acclaimed project Box Car Racer, he would start a new band, though he did recruit Box Car Racer guitarist David Kennedy alongside former Distillers bassist Ryan Sinn and Offspring drummer Atom Willard.
The four-piece released their first single “The Adventure” in May 2006 days before their debut album, We Don't Need To Whisper, the first phrase Delonge said into the microphone when session recording began.
Angels and Airwaves have taken an artistic approach to their music, with related art and aviation imagery, as well as a feature film primarily created through CGI. Short sci-fi films have accompanied single releases "The Adventurer", "It Hurts" and "The Gift". This mix of audio-visual creativity shows another level of production taken on by the band and creates an experience paralleled in their live performances.
