Natalie Cole, daughter of the late crooning giant Nat "King" Cole, has been a recording phenomenon since the 1970s.
Cole has won eight Grammys and a string of NAACP Awards. She received her place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as early as 1975, and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1999.
Three decades later, Natalie Cole continues to make hits and win award after award.
Wanting to achieve success in her own right, Natalie Cole pursued a solo career without trying to capitalise on her father's fame. However critics have been unable to avoid comparison with her prolific performer father Nat, and unsurprisingly this has been in the form of favourable reports which speak of the Cole dynasty of outstanding musical talent. Funnily enough, her own son, Robert Yancy, is a musician who tours with her.
