MercyMe are a smash hit contemporary Christian band from Texas that was formed when two of the band members met while working on missions overseas. They quickly began to garner a dedicated fan base and were soon opening for bands like Audio Adrenalin.
Working together since the mid-1990s, MercyMe has won a string of Dove Awards, had several American Music Award nominations, two gold albums and one double platinum album, Spoken For. They have had a string of top 10 hits and sold over 3 million albums.
The band's demonstration of the love of God doesn't stop with their music, as they continue to demonstrate Christian principles elsewhere. MercyMe started a charity which they regularly fundraise for, The Go Foundation, which was a response to the untimely death of a young boy on a mission in Peru.
