French-Canadian, award-winning singer Celine Dion is a household name throughout the world. With over 100 million albums sold worldwide, she is one of the biggest international stars in pop music history.
Dion first achieved success in Francophone, Canada after her manager and future husband, Rene Angelil, mortgaged his home in order to finance her career. In 1983 she became the first Canadian to have a gold record in France and from there; Celine's show business career was unstoppable.
Although her musical influences are mostly pop, she has shown remarkable style diversity, producing various albums with distinct rock, classical and gospel roots. She has been praised for her technically skilled and powerful vocals.
In 2004 Celine Dion was presented with the 'Chopard Diamond Award' from the World Music Awards show for becoming the Best-selling Female Artist of all time.
