Broadway bids farewell to three major shows

This week sees the end of three major Broadway shows: Grey Gardens, 110 in the Shade, and Disney's Beauty And The Beast.

Grey Gardens, which has been playing at the Walter Kerr Theatre since October 3 last year, has received great acclaim and seen its two leading actresses, Christine Ebersole and Mary Louise Wilson, receive a Tony for their performances.

At Studio 54, four-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald will perform for the last time on Sunday 29 July in 110 Degrees in the Shade, after a season which began on April 13.

And finally, the sixth-longest running musical in Broadway history and firm family favorite, Disney’s classic, Beauty and the Beast closed after an impressive 13 year run at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.

The first of Disney's theatrical ventures and a Tony winner, Beauty and the Beast initially premiered at the Great White Way before moving to the Palace where it stayed for a number of years until its final run at the Lunt-Fontanne.
