The wait is over for Grease fans after the Brook Atkinson Theatre finally opened its doors to preview audiences for the long-awaited revival on Tuesday July 24.
The show, directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall, officially begins its run on August 19 and stars Max Crumm as Danny Zuko and Laura Osnes as Sandy Dumbrowski. The previously unknown musical actors secured the roles after winning the nation’s hearts in the reality TV show: Grease: You're The One That I Want.
For the first time ever on Broadway, the show will feature the most popular songs from the original 1978 motion picture including ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You,’ ‘Grease,’ ‘Sandy,’ and ‘You're the One That I Want.’
Previous runs of the world’s most famous high school musical has helped make it the twelfth-longest running musical in Broadway history – with the last revival in 1994 clocking up 1,505 performances and the 1972 original ‘Grease,' running for an incredible 3,388 performances over an eight year period.
