Tony Award-winning actress Carole Shelley will return to her role as Madame Morrible in the massively popular and successful Broadway show Wicked August 28, it has been revealed.
The show has also been extended to play into January 2008, it was announced earlier this month, giving even more people the opportunity to see this much raved-about show that tells the stories of the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch from the Wizard of Oz.
“Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch,”, according to the press notes.
Wicked is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, has lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Willie Holzman. The soundtrack has been certified platinum and is one of the fastest selling Broadway recordings of recent years.
