Aida Turturro and Vincent Pastore who play Janice Soprano and Sal "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero on the hit TV series The Sopranos are set to star in Chicago on Broadway.
Both actors have been signed up to play lead roles in Broadway’s eighth longest-running musical: Turturro as Matron "Mama" Morton and Pastore as Amos Hart, replacing Adriane Lenox and Rob Bartlett.
Their run starts on November 19 and they will appear through to January 18, 2008 at the Ambassador Theatre, Broadway.
No stranger to treading the boards, Turturro has performed previously as Eunice in the 1992 Broadway production of A Streetcar Named Desire with Jessica Lange and Alec Baldwin.
She has also co-starred alongside her real-life brother, John Turturro, in the off-Broadway production of Souls of Naples back in 2005.
Pastore, on the other hand, has not performed live on stage since the start of his career: ''It looks like a tough schedule, but I will get used to it,'' he told reporters. ''This is my first Broadway experience. It's going to be a lot of hard work, but I'm sure we're going to have a lot of fun.''
Chicago currently stars Brian McKnight as Billy Flynn, Brenda Braxton as Velma Kelly and Michele DeJean as Roxie Hart.
The musical has laid claim to no fewer than seven Tonys and has run for over 4,400 performances. As of July this year, it became the longest-running revival on Broadway.
During its run, the show has played in three Broadway theatres - the Richard Rodgers Theatre, the Shubert Theatre and the Ambassador Theatre.
