Boy band Hanson has teamed up with footwear company Toms, which donates a pair of shoes to a child in need for each pair sold, on its US tour, ‘The Walk’.
The tour kicked off in Nashville, Tennessee, on September 10 and includes 33 dates, ending in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 8.
The purpose of the initiative is to raise awareness about, and to help combat, poverty in Africa.
Along with Toms’ founder, Blake Mycoskie, the band will speak publicly about the importance of taking simple actions that can help to impact areas that are seriously affected by poverty, and the company’s shoes – based on a traditional Argentine shoe – will be available at each tour location.
Furthermore, proceeds from the band’s “Great Divide” song, which is featured on the new album, have been donated to AIDS relief in Africa.
“The Walk”, which debuted in the top five on Billboard's Independent Chart, is the band’s fourth album.
