American R&B, soul and jazz singer Jill Scott kicked off her North American tour in New York on New Year's Eve.
The tour, designed to promote her new album The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3, will take Ms Scott to 26 other venues before the end of March.
Tour dates include Seattle, WA, on February 5, San Diego, CA, on February 13, Atlanta, GA, on February 22, Washington, DC, on March 11 and Chicago, IL, on March 22.
Her final appearance will be at the Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham, AL, on March 30.
The album, her third, was launched last September and entered the Billboard Top 200 at number four.
Singer/songwriter Ms Scott has also enjoyed some acting success, both on the television and on the big screen.
She appeared as Donna in popular UPN series 'Girlfriends' and joined the cast of Cavedwellers, a movie released in 2004.
She will also play the part of protagonist, Precious Ramotswe, in the film version of 'The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency', which is currently in production.
During her career to-date she has been nominated for 12 Grammy Awards, winning Best Urban/Alternative Performance in 2005 and Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance in 2007.
