Fans are working themselves up into a buying frenzy as tickets for Hannah Montana get snapped up as soon as they go on sale prompting fears of a conspiracy.
Tickets for the Hannah Montana show are selling out so fast that the Kansas City council and Mayor Mark Funkhouser have asked to meet with a representative for Ticketmaster to explain why a show planned for the new Sprint Center sold out as soon as it went on sale.
However, despite media claims to the contrary, as well as a great deal of bitterness from parents who failed to secure tickets for their kids, it appears that an unprecedented demand to see the teen pop sensation on stage is the real reason that tickets are selling so quickly.
Debra Rathwell, Sr. VP of AEG Live comments: "This one's out of the stratosphere. We expected them to sell out quickly but this sets new light and sound records."
Rathwell also confirmed that every single gig on the 54-date nationwide tour sold out within minutes and made a point of reassuring parents that ticket sales haven’t been a scam; but rather pure demand has outstripped supply.
Around four million fans reportedly tune in each week to watch Hannah Montana's show but the majority of them are too young to attend a concert alone meaning that parents are not just purchasing one ticket but two, causing the demand to double to around 8 million people. In addition, half of the tickets will automatically be allocated to the fan club leaving the remainder to the public.
"We've tried to hold tickets at the box office and help out the best we can but it's very difficult to make it fair when a thing sells that quickly," Rathwell continues.
Chip McLean, Sr. VP of Buena Vista Concerts for Disney Music Group, adds: "The demand has been so incredible and the involvement of the ticket brokers so pronounced that we're working internally to both come up with improved systems for rolling out tickets going forward and a proper response to address all of the issues."
Miley Cyrus aka Hannah Montana, will tour across the states from October 18. There will be 56 shows in total with the last one concluding in January next year in Albany (NY).
