Singer, actress and comedian Bette Midler will take over from Grammy winner Celine Dion as the new act at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
The Divine Miss M, whose new show promises "plenty of girls, gags and guffaws, her incomparable humor" will begin her five-night-a-week, two year stint on February 20 2008.
In a statement, the 61-year-old said: "Get ready Vegas 'cause here I come! Caesars Palace will never be the same and to all those critics who have accused me of being 'tacky,' 'too much' and 'over the top' I say, you ain't seen nuthin' yet!"
And Caesars Palace president Gary Selesner said: "Caesars Palace has set the standard for entertainment in Las Vegas by continually booking the biggest and best acts the city has ever seen including Celine Dion and Elton John. Adding the inimitable Bette Midler to The Colosseum's family of entertainers adds yet another jewel to our crown."
Midler, whose singing career has earned her four Grammy Awards, made her Broadway debut in the original production of Fiddler on the Roof in 1966 and never looked back, bagging a Tony for her performance in Clams on the Half Shell Revue at the Palace Theater.
Midler also achieved Oscar nominations for her performances in For the Boys and The Rose and an Emmy for her appearance on the penultimate episode of The Tonight Show in 1992.
