Young British hot-shot Lewis Hamilton experienced his first Formula One victory yesterday in Montreal, in what was only his sixth Grand Prix appearance.

The experience was like being “on a different planet”, the 22-year-old told BBC (British Broadcasting Company) sports news – "This is a fantastic day for me and my family, this is historic," he said after his sixth straight podium finish.

Hamilton, the first black driver in Formula 1 history, dedicated his victory to his father Anthony, who has looked after his career for the last 15 years and at one time held down three jobs in order to fund it.

Accidents, mechanical problems and disqualifications eliminated 10 of the 22 starters in what was a chaotic, exciting race.

Hamilton is now looking for his second win at the American Grand Prix this Sunday, June 17, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
