After Tim Henman’s performance at the Artois Championships in London today, more and more Brits are starting to think that he should retire, having never fulfilled the high hopes his country once had for him.
This year, the 32-year-old Englishman has won only one match thus far, and lost again today to 18 year-old Marin Cilic, in what was the Croatian’s first career win on grass.
Despite being more consistent than Cilic and being 4-2 up in the final set, Henman has been befallen by a injury and illness this season, and seemed to run out of steam towards the end of the match.
Roger Federer, another favorite, also lost – this time at the French Open – to Rafael Nadal, who won his third straight French title on Sunday.
This also ended the world number one’s hopes of becoming the third man to have a complete set of Grand Slam titles.
