The Fighting Illini of The University of Illinois has broken its own record by selling more 2007 tickets than they have in any year of the school’s history, totalling nearly 34,000 for the season.

Ron Guenther, Director of Athletics for the Big Ten team, said: “I am very pleased with the public response to our upcoming football season. Our marketing and football staffs have done some great work in getting our fans excited about Illini football.”

As a result of a renovation project, the Illini’s Memorial Stadium now holds 57,000 football fans, which is good news as the Fighting Illini have already sold 11,000 more season tickets to the public than they did all of last season, and an additional 1,700 student season tickets compared to the same date last year.
