The Mitchell report released on December 13 has revealed that more than 20 major league baseball players have been caught up in the steroid scandal, with 89 former and current players named in total.
Performance-enhancing drugs were reportedly taken by big name stars such as former MVP winners Jason Giambi, Miguel Tejada and Jose Canseco.
A weight of evidence against seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens was also presented in the report, which was overseen by former Senator George Mitchell.
The paper has provoked complaints of false allegations; however, these protests have not been substantiated.
"Everyone involved in baseball over the past two decades - commissioners, club officials, the players' association and players - shares to some extent the responsibility for the steroids era," Mitchell said.
"There was a collective failure to recognize the problem as it emerged and to deal with it early on," he added.
