It would seem that a hit movie, quadruple-platinum soundtrack, sell-out touring live show and top-selling DVD aren’t enough for smash hit High School Musical, as it now has an ice show in the works too.
Thomas Schumacher, president of Walt Disney Co.’s Disney Theatrical Productions said of the show's success: “High School Musical’s been a smash hit in virtually every area of the entertainment spectrum. The ice tour celebrates the fun and music in a whole new way.”
The production company has promised “some of the world’s most talented skaters” performing music from the soundtrack, according to Nicole Feld of Feld Entertainment. "With the ice as the dance floor, this event will be an unprecedented twist on a fan favorite," she said.
Disney’s High School Musical: The Ice Tour opens August 31 in Lakeland, Florida, and will travel to at least 100 cities over the next year.
