Hamish Linklater and Michael Urie – who appear on TV’s The New Adventures of Old Christine and Ugly Betty, respectively – will star in the upcoming Daniel Sullivan staging of Hamlet at South Coast Repertory next month.
As one of Shakespeare’s most popular and famous plays, Hamlet will make an apt ending to the 2006-2007 season for the Costa Mesa, California company at the Segerstrom Stage.
Linklater – best known for his role as the brother in CBS’ The New Adventures of Old Christine – will take the lead, while Uri, who plays Marc St James on the ABC series Ugly Betty will feature as Horatio.
Other characters will be played by an array of stars, including Robert Foxworth (Twelve Angry Men, Six Feet Under) as Claudius, and Dakin Matthews (Hitchcock Blonde, Desperate Housewives) as Polonius.
Previews are expected for May 25 with an official opening of June 1 through July 1.
