Shakespeare in the Park 2007 opens tonight with previews of a Michael Greif-directed production of Romeo and Juliet.
The originally scheduled June 5 start was postponed until today because of rain that had slowed down production, scenery and rehearsals, but the remainder of the show will run as scheduled.
Romeo and Juliet’s most recent venture is its first since 1968 and stars Oscar Isaac who appeared in Two Gentlemen of Verona, and Lauren Ambrose, best known for her role as rebellious teenager Claire in TV’s Six Feet Under.
Romeo and Juliet officially opens June 24 and runs through July 8 at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park, New York City.
