Winner of Best Musical Tony Award, Monty Python’s Spamalot, will continue conquering countries as it heads to Australia later this year.
The show will play at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne on November 23, with an official opening night slated for December 8.
Casting is still in the pipeline and has not been announced, as yet, but Boyett Ostar Productions that have produced the Broadway, London and Las Vegas productions will also be heading up the Australian production team.
“In revenge for the cricket, we are sending you Spamalot,” said creator Eric Idle, adding, "actually we are anxious to see how the show plays upside down."
Spamalot recounts the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table on their quest for the Holy Grail, via the dazzling land of Camelot.
The book is by Idle, based on the screen-play co-written with fellow Monty Python creators Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones and Michael Palin.
Spamalot can currently be seen at the Shubert Theatre on Broadway, London’s Palace Theatre, on a national tour, and shortly in Las Vegas.
