The Florida Marlins were surprise winners of the 1997 World Series, becoming the first team in history to win the World Series as a wildcard entry. The victory was made all the more spectacular by the fact that had not even won a division title up to that point.
The Marlins repeated their success in 2003 through another wildcard entry, and have never lost a playoff series in their history as of 2006. This made them the first team in history to win two World Series as playoff entrants.
Established in 1993, the Florida Marlins’ current home is the Dolphins Stadium. The team plays in the East Division of the National League, wearing uniforms of black, teal, gray and white.
