The Kansas City Royals are one of the most successful expansion teams in professional sport. Established in 1969, the team achieved a winning record in 14 of 19 seasons in the 1970s and 1980s.
Playing initially out of the Municipal Stadium, the Royals moved in 1973 to the Kauffman Stadium. Their new home has a capacity for more than 39,000 fans, and has seen many of the Kansas City Royals trophy and competition wins.
The Royals’ history has seen a great deal of success, including six division titles, two American League pennants and a World Series, as of 2006.
