The Pittsburgh Pirates were established in 1882, and play in the Central Division of the National League. Home games are played out of the PNC Park, the Pirates’ home since 2001, with a home seating capacity of more than 39,000 spectators.
The Pittsburgh Pirates’ history is littered with successes, including five World Series, nine National League Pennants and nine East Division titles as of 2006. They have also fielded of the best and most successful teams in National League history.
With many eras of success, including the dominance of the 1970s, both fans and players of the Pirates are confident of continuing their legacy in the coming seasons. The relatively young roster of the team offers much promise for the future.
