The Kannapolis Intimidators are a Class A minor league baseball team, affiliated with the Chicago White Sox, which plays in the South Atlantic League. They moved to Kannapolis, North Carolina, in 1995 from Spartanburg, South Carolina, where they were an affiliate in the A Class of the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Intimidators have gone through several name changes since its inception into the South Atlantic League in 1995. They came to their present name in honor of NASCAR racing legend, the late Dale Earnhardts nickname, when he bought a share in the club in 2000. They play at Fieldcrest Stadium, which was finished in 1996 and seats 4,700 fans.
