The Jacksonville Dolphins are based out of a private university in Jacksonville, Florida. Named as one of "America’s Best Colleges" in a 2006 report, the university encourages both academic and athletic achievements in equal measure.
In intercollegiate sport the Jacksonville Dolphins play basketball in the Atlantic Sun Conference of NCAA Division I. One of the Dolphin’s strongest teams is in basketball, and has in the past produced prominent professionals such as Otis Smith, Dee Brown and Artis Gilmore.
