The Boston Celtics have been one of the most successful franchises in the history of the NBA. They have the most Championship wins of any NBA franchise and have also added nineteen Conference Titles and twenty-five Division Titles to their name. A number of decades in the sport of basketball have taken place under a Celtics dynasty, with great rivals born and defeated throughout their long history.
Now based in TD Banknorth Garden, Boston, the Celtics play in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The arena is usually called the Boston Garden of even simply with Garden, and is located in the North End neighbourhood of the city. The arena has facilities including three private restaurants, 104 suites, 2400 club seats, a multi-million dollar video scoreboard and 19,000 regular seats. Due to a varied advertising history, the Boston Garden has had over 32 different names in the past.
As part of their history of success, the Celtics now have 25 players and coaches in the Basketball Hall of Fame. As part of this, they also have the most retired numbers of any franchise in America.
The Celtics have never lost the seventh game of the NBA Finals, and in fact have won the NBA Finals eight years in a row in the past, from the 1958/59 season to 1965/66. Another more recent time of dominance came in the Larry Bird years, which ran from 1979 to 1992.
