The Dallas Mavericks have won one Conference title and one Division title since they first joined the NBA as an expansion team in the 1980-81 season. The Mavericks have also reached the NBA play-offs twelve times in their history, with a recent accomplishment their contention of the 2005-06 NBA Championship against the Miami Heat.
The Dallas Mavericks have been based out of the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, having moved from their original venue the Reunion Arena in 2001. Enjoying facilities including seating for 19,200 fans, dining and premium suites, the Dallas Mavericks have enjoyed considerable success since moving to their new home, reaching the Conference Semifinals or beyond in all but one season from 2001 to 2006.
Despite their short history, the Mavericks have already had at least one former player admitted to the Basketball Hall of Fame in Alex English. They have also retired two numbers to commemorate former contributors. Having started the 21st century in bullish fashion, the Dallas Mavericks hope to continue their success long into the future.
