The Minnesota Timberwolves were established as an expansion team in the 1989-1990 season. Despite early troubles, the Timberwolves have grown to be a formidable force in recent times, reaching the play-offs eight years in succession from 1996 to 2004. This culminated in the Minnesota Timberwolves 2003-04 season, where they reached the Western Conference Finals, playing the LA Lakers. 2004 also saw them win the Northwest Division title.
The Timberwolves spent only one year in their original Metrodome arena before moving to the Target Center in 1990, remaining there to this day. The arena features facilities including dining, premium suites and seating for up to 20,500 fans, and has overseen the playing history of all but one of the franchises seasons.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have continued to enjoy strong support throughout their history in the NBA. The future hopes to bring repeats of their 2003-04 season, with fans craving the Conference and Championship titles that have so far eluded them.
