Playing in the Southwest Division of the Western Conference, the Hornets have reached nine play-offs and four Conference semi-finals since their establishment in 1998. Originally established in 1988 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Hornets moved to New Orleans in the 2002. Three years later in 2005 they changed to their current name, the New Orleans/Oklahoma Hornets.
Playing out of the Ford Center since 2005, the Hornets have been able to enjoy facilities including seating of up to 19,599 fans, dining and premium suites. The Hornets may return to their 2002-2004 home the New Orleans Arena in the future.
Due to their relatively young age as an NBA franchise, the Hornets have yet to see any of their former members admitted to the Basketball Hall of Fame. Their successes in the past however have seen two numbers retired for past contributors. Recent history has shown the Hornets continue to perform despite many adversities, with fans expecting many successes and awards in coming seasons.
