Based in Atlanta, Georgia Force are in the AFL’s National Conference.
Playing in the Southern Division, alongside Austin, Kansas City, Orlando and Tampa Bay, Georgia Force were known as the Nashville Kats from 1997 to 2001 before being bought out by an Atlanta businessman.
While playing in Nashville as the Kats, the team made the playoffs every season, and made the ArenaBowl twice. When they were bought in 2001, the rechristened Force played at the Philips Arena home to the NBA’s Hawks and NHL’s Thrashers, but relocated to Duluth’s Arena at Gwinnett Center for 2003 and 2004 before moving back to Philips in 2005.
The original Nashville Kats returned to the AFL in 2005, and took all their history back from the Force the two teams are now entirely separate, with Force’s official first season recorded as 2002.
