Based in Uniondale, New York, the New York Dragons are in the National Conference of the AFL.
The Dragons play their home games at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum which they share with hockey side, the New York Islanders from the NHL; the two teams also share a mascot - a dragon called Sparky.
The Dragons were originally the Iowa Barnstormers, and reached ArenaBowl twice in 1996 and 1997, but moved to New York for a more modern venue and bigger potential fan base. The Dragons hold the AFL record for the most points scored in a single game 99 against the Carolina Cobras in 2001, and also for the second most points scored when they won against Utah Blaze in 2006 with a score of 84-81.
