Pennsylvania’s arena football team, Philadelphia Soul, are in Eastern Division of the AFL’s National Conference.
The team’s name refers to Philadelphia’s soul music genre and the fact that it is partly owned by rock superstar Jon Bon Jovi. In keeping with the music theme, the team’s mascot is a Blues Brother look-alike called Soul Man.
The Soul joined the AFL in 2004 and plays its home games at the Wachovia Center - home also to the Flyers from the NH and the NBA’s 76ers. When there are clashes, the Soul play at the Wachovia Spectrum, also home to AHL team, the Phantoms.
Philadelphia Soul earned their first playoff berth in 2006 and went through the wild card, where their defeated the Austin Wranglers away, but lost out to organs in the divisional playoffs.
