The Maryland Terrapins’ home field is the Byrd Stadium located on the university’s campus. The Terrapins have been strong competitors in intercollegiate football over their history, and were national champions in 1953 following a strong conference season.
The appointment of Ralph Friedgen as Head Coach has also lead to success in the modern era, with the Maryland Terrapins finishing consistently in the top places of the AAC Atlantic conference. The team were able to achieve 31 wins, Peach and Gator Bowl victories and a BCS Orange Bowl appearance over several seasons. The Maryland Terrapins also finished as one of the top teams of their conference over the first three seasons Ralph Friedgen took charge.
