Originally established as a founding member of the American Football League, the Denver Broncos joined the NFL during the merger between the two competitions in 1970. The Broncos played in the AFL for nine seasons before moving to the NFL. Since that time they have become one of the NFL’s most popular teams, reaching six Super Bowls and winning the championship twice in 1998 and 1999.
Playing out of the INVESCO Field at Mile High, the Broncos are able to enjoy home attendances of up to 76,000. Their previous stadium, the Mile High Stadium, sold out every game from 1970 to 2004 and many fans still refer to the new stadium by the same name.
With their long history of dominance and victories, the Broncos have had a fair share of excellent players. This has lead to three past members being elevated to the pro Football Hall of Fame, and three numbers being retired in honour of past contributors. With their most recent Conference Championship attempt coming in 2005, both fans and players are expectant of more successes over the next seasons.
