A founding member of the American Football League, the Patriots were originally based out of Boston before moving to New England following the 1970 season and the merger of the AFL into the NFL. The New England Patriots have been one of the most successful teams in the NFL, winning three Super Bowls in four years from 2001-2004 and participating in a further two. They have also won nine Division Championships and five Conference Championships throughout their history.
The New England Patriots have been based out of the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts since 2002. At their new stadium the Patriots are able to enjoy home games with attendances of up to 68,000 fans. Their stadium has also hosted the two NFL season-opening games in 2004 and 2005.
The Patriots’ history has seen three of their former members elevated to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and over six retired numbers in honour of past contributors. With three recent Super Bowl wins in recent memory, both fans and players of the New England Patriots are highly confident of continued success over the coming seasons.
