Originally called the New York Titans, the New York Jets gained their current name following a change of ownership following the 1962 season. A charter member of the American Football League, the New York Jets joined the NFL following the 1970 merger between the two leagues. Since that time, they have gone on to win two Division Championships and make over eight play-off appearances.
Based out of the Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the stadium is known as "the Meadowlands" among Jets’ fans. The stadium allows a capacity of up to 80,000 home fans and plays host to three different sporting teams.
The Jets’ history has seen five players elevated to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and four numbers retired to honour past contributors. With both the Jets’ Division Championships coming in recent seasons, both fans and players are expectant of future achievements to come and eagerly await the challenge of the coming seasons.
