The Philadelphia Eagles first played in the NFL in the 1933 season as an expansion team. Since that time they have gone on to win nine Division Championships, three Conference Championships and three NFL Championships. The name and city of the Eagles has remained unchanged throughout its playing history, with the exception of a one-year period where they became the Philadelphia-Pittsburgh "Steagles" in 1943.
The Philadelphia Eagles are currently based out of the new Lincoln Financial Field and are able to enjoy home attendances up to a capacity of 68,500 fans. One other team is based out of the Eagles’ stadium, which was built to replace the old Veterans Stadium.
The Eagles’ playing history has seen over fifteen of their members inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame with seven numbers retired to honour past contributors. With a recent Super Bowl attempt in the 2004 season, the Philadelphia Eagles are confident of continuing their success and aim to achieve their first ever Super Bowl win over the coming seasons.
