Originally established as a 1932 NFL expansion team, the Redskins were originally known as the Boston Braves. A subsequent name change and move saw them become the Washington Redskins in 1937, and they have remained as such ever since. The Redskins have now developed into one of the most successful and wealthiest teams in the NFL, with three Super Bowls and two NFL Championship victories.
Based out of the FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, the Washington Redskins are able to enjoy facilities including a home seating capacity of up to 91,500 fans. With a natural grass surface, the team’s stadium has been host to the highest regular-season attendances for the past six years.
The Redskins’ history has seen over sixteen of their members promoted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and more than ten numbers retired officially and unofficially in honour of former contributors. With the Redskins’ record including more than fifteen play-off appearances, seventeen Division Championships and five Conference Championships, fans and players are confident of continuing this legacy in the seasons ahead.
