Founded in 1924, the Boston Bruins were the first American hockey team to be formed after the expansion into the US, and have proved to be one of its most successful.
The Bruins began their victories in the 1920s and 1930s, but World War II all but destroyed their squad. Despite this, the team managed to see some impressive seasons and three Stanley Cup finals in the years following.
After a number of slow years, in 1966 the legendary defenseman Bobby Orr joined the Boston Bruins and helped place the team at the forefront again. The Bruins became one of the top squads of the league from the late 1960s, culminating in a Stanley Cup win in 1970, and further success thereafter.
The Boston Bruins have continued to chart an impressive record, boasting 5 Stanley Cup wins, 2 Conference Championships and 21 Division Championships.
