Founded in 1967, the Los Angeles Kings split their first season between Long Beach and Los Angeles, before finding their home in Inglewood Forum. Nowadays they are settled at the 18,118 capacity Staples Center, wearing purple, silver and black.
The Kings really saw their fortunes improve in 1987 when Bruce McNall stepped in as part owner of the team. Famously, he negotiated a trade in 1988 with the Edmonton Oilers for some of their star players - the legendary Wayne Gretzky, as well as Marty McSorley and Mike Krushelnyski.
1992/3 was the Los Angeles Kings most successful season to date, as they won a Conference Championship and saw their way into the Stanley Cup playoffs, winning their first game against the infamous Montreal Canadiens.
