The original Ottawa Senators of 1901 to 1934 were one of the most successful teams in hockey history, winning 10 Stanley Cups before moving to St Louis Missouri, and disbanding after one season.
In 1992 an NHL expansion happily brought hockey back to the people of Ottawa, and in time the Senators moved to their current home of Scotiabank palace where a new coach helped to ensure success. Following this in 1996, Daniel Alfredsson won the Calder Memorial Trophy, and the team made the playoffs, both of which were firsts for the Senators. Since then Ottawa has continued to make the playoffs, and also won the Presidents Trophy.
