The Philadelphia Flyers, so named in 1966 after the defection of the Quakers 30 years earlier, have also been known as the "Broad Street Bullies" because of their intimidating style. They play at Wachovia Center, and won their first Stanley Cup victory in 1974, followed by another the next year.
On top of this, the Philadelphia Flyers have succeeded in bringing home silverware for numerous Conference and Divisional championships, proving to be NHL mainstays.
Recently, after the 2005/6 season, the Flyers saw an astonishing 14 players undergo surgery for a number of different injuries, but this did nothing to dampen the determination of the squad.
Flyers fans eagerly anticipated the return of these stars, as well as new additions drafted in to boost Flyers’ success in the following seasons.
