The Vancouver Canucks were formed as the result of a franchise established by the Pacific Coast Hockey League in 1945. In their first and third years they won championships, before progressing to the Western Hockey League and winning four Patrick Cups.
After a wait to join the NHL, the Vancouver Canucks achieved quick success, making it to the Stanley Cup finals in 1982 for the first time in franchise history. Unfortunately though, they were beaten by favorites New York Islanders.
The franchise achieved success again under Pat Quinn, winning two back-to-back division titles in 1992 and 1993. In 1994 the Vancouver Canucks really shone contesting (unsuccessfully) one of the most nail-biting Stanley Cup finals in the history of the NHL.
With the support of their coach and loyal fans it is hoped that the Canucks can bring home silverware again in the coming seasons.
