The Minnesota Swarm are a new entry into the NLL competition, having joined the league in 2004. The Swarm made a strong start to their playing record in the NLL. Having won their opening game against the Knighthawks in 2005, they went on in the following season to reach the playoffs for the first time in their history. The Swarm are based out of the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota, with a home seating capacity for more than 17,000 fans.
