Ireland takes its Rugby very seriously and as a result, they have build up a good reputation for being fierce opponents in a number of prestigious international competitions.
Each year, Ireland competes against England, Scotland, Wales, France and Italy in the Six Nations Championship – and has secured a win ten times – as well as sharing the championship eight times.
Despite its success in the Six Nations, Ireland has yet to get through the quarter final stage in the World Cup.
They have recently laid claim to the 2007 Triple Crown trophy beating Scotland by a narrow margin of 19-18 in Murrayfield but were beaten in the 2007 Six Nations by a victorious France.
Ireland is competing in the 2007 World Cup in Pool D with hosts, France, Argentina, Georgia and Namibia.
