Avenue Q is a hysterically exuberant show which is part fond tribute and part sly parody of PBS' successful children's program Sesame Street.
Set on New York City's Avenue Q – memorably described as "the only place you can afford when you're out of college, out of a job or out of luck" – this hit musical comedy follows the lives, loves and crises of a stellar cast of live actors, puppeteers and puppets.
Featuring two roommates with a passing resemblance to Bert and Ernie, a 'Trekkie Monster' more interested in Internet porn than sweets, and a variety of risque songs, the show takes a side-splitting look at life in your twenties. Avenue Q uses expert choreography to create realistic dialogue between live actors and puppets, and promises an adult night out you can’t afford to miss.
Since its off-Broadway debut in 2003, Avenue Q has won plaudits from critics and scooped Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Original Score (2004).
