His sweeping takes on a distinctive rhythm; eight other sweepers soon join him, the hiss of their instruments creating an astonishing crescendo of sound. Stomp was developed by Luke Creswell and Steve McNicholas on the streets of Brighton, England. The show premiered at the Edinburgh Festival in 1991, and went on to win awards including Olivier, Obie and Drama Desk commendations.
