No talking there at the back – it's back to school with The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, the hit musical comedy that's taking Broadway by storm.
Centering around a fictional spelling bee for adolescents, the show pits six stellar cast members against four audience participants in a ferocious contest that'll make you view competitive spelling in a whole new light. As the parents get involved, expect some hilarious song-and-dance routines – and, more importantly, some pertinent social commentary on a nation obsessed with winning at all costs.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is based on an original play by improvisational comedy troupe The Farm. Since opening in 2005 it has been nominated for six Tony Awards, including Best Book (Rachel Sheinkin), Best Score (William Finn) and Best Direction (James Lapine).
