Movin' Out is an energetic and powerful musical which follows a group of friends through 2 decades of love and loss. Set in the 1960s and 1980s, the show features more than 20 classic Billy Joel songs.
It's Long Island in the 1960s, and change is in the air. Prom king and queen Eddie and Brenda are so over, whilst high school sweethearts Judy and James are planning their wedding. Tony thinks he might have a chance with Brenda – until the Vietnam War touches all of their lives. Twenty years on, the group is still traumatised, and unable to move on.
Will a chance meeting show them the way home? Movin' Out combines a journey of self-discovery with Billy Joel’s award-winning rock score. Accompanied by a live singer and 10-piece band, a stellar cast mesh hit songs such as "Uptown Girl" with tight dance routines. Expect plenty of laughter and tears - this must-see musical is a meditation on one generation's loss of innocence, and a hymn to the power of hope.
Movin' Out was conceived and choreographed by Twyla Tharp. The show made its Broadway debut in 2002 and continues to tour the USA to rave reviews. Movin' Out has been nominated for 6 Drama Desk Awards and 9 Tony Awards.
