Indiana State capital, Indianapolis is the third largest city in the MidWest and is best known for its hosting of Indianapolis 500, or the Indy 500, the largest one-day sporting event in the world, with more than 257,000 seats and held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway every Memorial Day weekend.
Indy, or the Crossroads of America as it is also known, is well-known for its cultural heritage, with its resident symphony orchestra and a whole host of concerts and musical acts visiting on a regular basis and playing at the city's various venues, including the Murat Theatre. It is also the native town of such stars as BB King, Aretha Franklin, Kool and the Gang, Ray Charles, The Temptations and Norah Jones.
